FAQ
Is this calculator customized for my specific airline contract?▼
It is contract-neutral by design. Instead of assuming a single airline's pay scale, it lets you enter any hourly credit rate, per diem rate, or boarding allowance, so it works across mainline, regional, cargo, and charter operations. If your agreement includes something this tool does not model directly, such as international override, language premium, purser pay, or holiday pay, you can fold that amount into your hourly rate to approximate it.
Does this app store or sell my income data?▼
No. Every calculation happens in your own browser during your session and is cleared when you reload or close the page. Nothing you type is written to a server or shared with another visitor, and we never sell personal income logs. When you choose to email yourself a summary, the message is composed in your own email client and sent from your own account.
How is total estimated trip pay calculated?▼
Formula: (Block Credits × Rate) + (TAFB Hours × Per Diem Rate) + (Boardings × Boarding Rate). Each component is shown separately so you can see which part of the trip is driving the total.
Why does my estimate differ from my actual pay statement?▼
The estimate is a gross, pre-tax figure based on the numbers you entered. Your real statement reflects taxes, union dues, insurance and retirement contributions, reroutes, cancellations, deadhead, premium or trade adjustments, and any pay protection your contract applies. Rounding rules on block time and credit rigs can also shift the total slightly.
Is per diem taxable income?▼
Per diem is generally paid as a reimbursement for meals and incidental expenses rather than as wages, and is often non-taxable up to published federal rates. Treatment depends on your airline's plan and your personal tax situation, so this tool reports per diem as a gross figure and leaves tax questions to your payroll department or a qualified tax professional.
Can I use this to compare trips before bidding?▼
Yes, and that is one of its most useful applications. Run each pairing you are considering, email yourself the summaries, then compare both the totals and the dollars-per-TAFB-hour. Crew members frequently find that a trip with lower credit but shorter time away is the stronger choice once per diem and days off are weighed.
